College of Natural & Mathematical Sciences

The College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences supports an impressive number of undergraduate students who are enrolled in nine undergraduate programs at UMBC. The emphasis on research experiences as significant instructional opportunities enables many UMBC undergraduates to work side-by-side with faculty, post docs, graduate students and other personnel using state-of-the-art equipment and testing various hypotheses. Our emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration enhances the undergraduate educational experience at UMBC and allows students to test the waters for future career and post-baccalaureate educational interests.

The College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences also currently enrolls many students in 13 graduate programs and administers nearly half of the doctoral programs at UMBC. Our graduate students are dedicated researchers who work side-by-side with their faculty mentors as they pursue their educational goals at UMBC with the ongoing support of their home departments and the UMBC Graduate School. Emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and access to faculty members and facilities of the entire University System of Maryland maximize the graduate students' abilities to identify programs best suited to their indiviual interests.
