Three years ago, The Choice Program at UMBC adopted a lot in east Baltimore, in the Johnston Square community where Choice youth and communities partners participate in ongoing community service and beautification. Last year, the lot was the site of The Choice Program's first annual ArtRising event, which was designed to bring members of the Baltimore community back together, one year after the Baltimore Uprising, to remember, reflect, celebrate, and create art.
In preparation for the 2nd annual ArtRising, The Choice Program is planning to install a mural featuring uplifting themes of family, diversity, and community. In the upcoming weeks, Choice will engage at least 25 youth from the Baltimore region in positive activities, contributing to beautifying the lot and surrounding community. But we need your help!
With the support of two local artists who are donating their time, the mural project will begin on April 8th. In order to complete the project, we need your support to buy primer, paint, sealer, brushes, rollers, paint trays, and other materials.
Don't delay, donate today!
All funds raised are administered by the UMBC Foundation for the benefit of UMBC.
