Women's Soccer America East Champions!

FY14: UMBC Women's Soccer A Project of UMBC Athletics

Congratulations to UMBC Women's Soccer!

UMBC Women's Soccer posted a momentous 2013 season, completing the Cinderella-story by registering the second-biggest turnaround in the country and the largest turnaround in America East history. Under the league's Coaching Staff of the Year, led by second-year head coach Leslie Wray, the Retrievers were able to make program history. UMBC started by completing the worst-to-first feat by going from a 0-5-3 league record in 2012 to capturing a share of its first-ever regular-season title with a 6-2 conference mark. The Retrievers followed with a shutout victory against No. 4 Hartford and a come-from-behind win against No. 2 Stony Brook in the America East Championships to set a program-record with 13 wins and their first-ever conference tournament crown. UMBC drew eventual NCAA College Cup bound Virginia Tech in the opening round of the Retrievers' first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. The Retrievers gave the No. 1 Hokies all it could in a 2-0 defeat, but that outcome did little to spoil the heights that UMBC women's soccer reached in 2013.

Here are some more fun facts and cool achievements from the 2013 women's soccer team:
